Lung - Burn. I can imagine a few different ways it could feel, but really I just want to know from a member of the band to explain what they imagine it to feel like. “LUNGBURN is a burning yet cold sensation felt in the lungs at high elevations. When you’ve pushed yourself so far and so hard that your lungs scream out. You stop. You rest for a moment and gain your breath. Pressing on stronger than before. Kinda like life”, replies Austin Day, drummer for Lungburn.
How did I meet Austin? Like I meet most people due to my lack of vision, on the internet. Austin had an interesting publishing question regarding a split ep with another artist which I happened to be familiar with. Being the nerd that I am, I immediately started to research the answer to his question. Once I had found an adequate amount of information about the topic, I reached out to Austin to share what I learned.Â
“Would you or anyone else be down to answer some questions”, I started, “about (wrong band).”Â
“Nope, cause I’m in LUNGBURN”, he states.
Dammit. What a way to make a first impression.
Alright, so what is this band all about, and what do they have going on? Well, Lungburn solidified its lineup in 2021 with Vik the vocalist, Devon on guitar, Zach on bass, and we already met the drummer, Austin. The band identifies as “mile high metalcore”, shouting out their place of origin (Denver, CO). In two short years, they’ve managed 8 singles with over 35k streams on Spotify and 4.1k followers on facebook. Yeah, they’re good. Listen for yourself.

If you love to see great bands live, you’ll be happy to know that Lungburn stays busy on the stage. They have landed some great opportunities already in 2023. They will be opening for Within Destruction and Fox Lake on Feb 4 (tomorrow!) at the Roxy, and for Bodysnatcher, AngelMaker, and Paleface on March 20.Â
Lungburn is hard at work on new music and visuals, all due this year. On top of that, Lungburn look to set out on their first tour, seeking to entertain lovers of heavy music here in the western slope and beyond to surrounding states.Â
I asked Austin how they connect with their fans.
”All our singles have been about mythical creatures a up til the most recent one, “Shell Shock”. We are starting to shift into Vick writing lyrics based off his experiences with ptsd and war. Focusing on writing songs that hit hard live, but that people who are struggling can listen to and realize they’re not alone”.
It’s a decision, likely for the best, seeing that their latest single, “Shell Shock” is their most popular song on Spotify. Continue to follow Lungburn on your platform of choice by clicking here.
